Mistwalker Studios’ Fantasian is another reason gamers should be prepared to take mobile titles seriously, as they rise above their simplistic roots to become full-fledged experiences. Produced by Hironobu Sakaguchi, known worldwide as the creator of the Final Fantasy series, the stated goal was to bring back the style of older JRPG’s such as Final Fantasy 4 and 6. Along with many of the talented individuals who helped bring those games to life, Fantasian seems to have done just that.

You play as an amnesiac boy named Leo, who wakes up in a factory in a machine-infested world. Eventually, you learn that Leo has no memories of who he is or how he came to be in this world.

Gameplay

The game features a traditional turn-based battle system with random encounters similar to Pokemon and Trails in the Sky. There is no speed-up option for battles so at times that can be a slow drag. As you progress though, you unlock an item called “Dimengeon” (which…
